AJ Lee Reacts To WWE Stars Wanting Her To Return

Several WWE superstars have commented about a possible AJ Lee return to the ring, so the Divas Champion offered up a response.

The name of AJ Lee has been mentioned several times in recent months because she is married to WWE superstar CM Punk, who certainly mind bragging about being married to the former Divas Champion. Punk and AJ have been married for over a decade.

During CM Punk’s storyline with Drew McIntyre that ended at WWE Bad Blood in an incredible Hell in a Cell match, McIntyre mocked Punk with a fan-made bracelet that had AJ Lee’s name on it along with their precious dog, Larry. The bracelet became a big part of the story and it was ultimately destroyed by McIntyre because that’s what heels do.

AJ Lee is a former three-time WWE Divas Champion who worked for WWE from 2009 to 2015. During the peak of her run, she was unquestionably the top female star in the company whether she was holding the Divas Title or not.

Since departing WWE, Lee has written a book about her life while also diving into the world of writing comic books and other things like television shows.

While AJ Lee didn’t wrestle post-WWE, she did work behind the scenes on the Women of Wrestling show while also appearing on the TV show “Heels” along with CM Punk. Lee played Elle Dorado on Heels, which is now available on Netflix in the US.

This past weekend at the Los Angeles Comic Con where she was promoting “Day Of The Dead Girl,” Lee posed for a photo with the old WWE Divas Title, which got wrestling fans on social media talking about it.

Several Current WWE Stars Want AJ Lee To Step Back Into The Ring Again

The photo of AJ Lee with the WWE Divas Title got a lot of attention on social media. The 37-year-old Lee joked in a tweet that she was “definitely embracing my well-earned wrinkles and gray hair cuz aging is a privilege, but therapy, self-love, avoiding toxic energy, and sunscreen will make that skin glow too, boo.”

That led to tweets from her good friend Bayley as well as Women’s World Champion Liv Morgan as well as NXT stars Roxanne Perez & Cora Jade chiming in. Perez & Jade have joked in the past that Punk & Lee are like their wrestling parents since Perez & Jade are in their early 20s and were heavily influenced by that early 2010 era of WWE.

As it stands now, AJ Lee’s last match was on the Raw after WrestleMania 31 in 2015. In her autobiography, Lee said that permanent damage to her cervical spine and the fulfillment of her goals led to her moving on from pro wrestling at that point.

However, since her husband CM Punk returned to WWE after nearly a decade, fans will likely “never say never” to the idea of AJ Lee having one more match.
