AJ Lee Names the Love of Her Life; It’s Not CM Punk

CM Punk & AJ Lee WWE

AJ Lee made her return to WWE after a decade away from the business on the September 8 edition of Friday Night SmackDown, where she confronted Becky Lynch.

She is set to make her in-ring return at Wrestlepalooza in Indianapolis. She is booked to join her husband, CM Punk, to take on Lynch and her husband, Seth Rollins, in a mixed tag team match at the WWE’s inaugural event.

Days ahead of her in-ring return, The Geek Goddess had a virtual interview with ESPN’s Vibe Check, where she discussed a bunch of stuff related to her WWE comeback and mental health journey.

She also played a game called “tag team or throw down,” where she was given names and asked whether she’d tag team with them or throw down against them. When the host asked her about Katana from Mortal Kombat, an excited AJ Lee claimed she considers Katana the love of her life, not her husband CM Punk, who she began dating in August 2013 and married in June 2014.

Question: What about Katana from Mortal Kombat?

AJ Lee answered: Oh gosh. Yes. Tag team forever. Love of my life. Yeah. I think she’s hot. She’s is up there (at the top), you know. Then my dog Larry and then Phil (CM Punk). (From 8:44)

What Was the Biggest Challenge AJ Lee Faced When She Returned to WWE?

AJ Lee also spoke to ESPN’s SportsCenter recently. During the interview, she was asked to share about the hardest part of her WWE comeback. Lee replied that she had been under a lot of stress lately, though she coped well.

Quite honestly, managing my anxiety. I get a little nervous with attention, and I’ve been very comfortable as a writer and a producer the past 10 years, sort of being behind the scenes and creating worlds, and I don’t have to be the art. I kind of liked being the artist.

But now to sort of be both and to create this cool world and have people looking at me is a little stressful. But I am very good at managing my anxiety now, and I can balance it and keep myself sort of even. But the mental part has been uh the biggest hurdle so far. (From 4:30)
