AJ Lee Breaks Silence On CM Punk/Drew McIntyre Feud
AJ Lee has had her say on the feud between CM Punk and Drew McIntyre.
Although she hasn’t been part of WWE since 2015, AJ Lee recently found herself back in the wrestling spotlight. While Lee’s something of a WWE legend in her own right, her husband’s ongoing rivalry with Drew McIntyre has put her name back on the lips of fans around the world.
For weeks, McIntyre has tormented Punk by stealing and destroying a bracelet bearing the names of Lee and his dog Larry. Despite this, the former Divas Champion has no idea about the storyline playing out on WWE television.
During a new interview with Haley Miller of ComicBook, Lee said she remains on the periphery and tends to be more interested in the women’s division.
“I mean this in the most loving way, I have no idea what’s going on [laughs]. I’m weird about like — I don’t want to watch my husband wrestle live because I’m scared. It’s like a weird juju thing,” AJ said.
“But also, it’s kind of like when you go home from work, do you open up your email? It’s kind of like that. It feels like that if people can understand. So, I’m sort of on the periphery, and I get kind of looped in mostly for women’s stuff, because that’s what I’m interested in.
So my husband will let me know who’s the cool chick at the moment. And I’m so obsessed with people. Like Bayley and Naomi? Those are my girls. So that’s what’s interesting to me. I kind of don’t know what’s happening in the storyline.
I know that my dog is famous all of a sudden! He’s got some surprise merch coming. I’ve been privy to that. But it’s cool. I’m happy that he’s happy and healthy and just killing it. I’m proud.”
AJ Lee returned to wrestling in 2021 where she worked as a producer for Women of Wrestling, but she left the company in August 2023 after her contract expired.
CM Punk’s Rivalry With Drew McIntyre Will Continue
On the September 9th edition of Monday Night Raw, General Manager Adam Pearce announced that CM Punk and Drew McIntyre will meet one more time inside Hell in a Cell at Bad Blood.
The announcement came a week after McIntyre attacked Punk, causing him to be wheeled out of the arena on a stretcher. Prior to the assault, Punk had set his sights on Gunther and the World Heavyweight Championship after beating McIntyre at Bash In Berlin.
The pair first met at SummerSlam where the Scottish star grabbed the win.
