AEW’s MJF Wants To Wrestle Major TNA Star
MJF is interested in wrestling a former TNA World Champion who had a long run in WWE.
In a report that appeared in the latest edition of Dave Meltzer’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter, it was claimed that TNA wrestlers are not allowed to wrestle for former TNA boss Scott D’Amore’s Maple Leaf Wrestling promotion because AEW wrestlers appear on those shows.
“TNA talent is not allowed to work on Scott D’Amore’s Maple Leaf Wrestling shows even though most of them like D’Amore. The reason is that TNA management considers AEW as the enemy and D’Amore is allowed to book AEW talent.”
David B. Clevinger is the SVP of Digital at Anthem Sports, the company that owns TNA, and he responded to Meltzer’s report with this: “None of this is true, BTW.”
Meltzer responded with: “Better tell Moose since he wants to work for Scott and said that’s why he can’t.”
Carlos Silva is the TNA President, who made this comment on X as well:
“Thanks Dave. Moose knows. And all is good! Scott can call me anytime. He knows that too.”
As the story continued to make the rounds, Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful confirmed Silva’s stance. The former AEW World Champion Maxwell Jacob Friedman (MJF) posted this on X:
Sick.
Hey @MapleLeafPW Feed me Ziggler.
The “Ziggler” that MJF mentioned is former WWE superstar Dolph Ziggler, who worked for WWE for about 20 years until he felt like it was time to move on. Since January 2024, Ziggler has been in TNA using his real name, Nic Nemeth. In TNA, Nic has been the TNA World Champion and a TNA Tag Team Champion with his brother Ryan Nemeth.
While Nic Nemeth has wrestled at independent wrestling shows, he hasn’t wrestled in AEW, so a match against a top star like MJF hasn’t happened yet.
MJF Wants To Act With WWE Legends
After getting a featured role in Happy Gilmore 2, and currently filming the Violent Night 2 movie, MJF hopes to share the silver screen with some legendary WWE superstars.
“I said [this] before, I wanna end up on a Mount Rushmore of professional wrestlers turned actors. If I have the opportunity to get to work with any of the three Gods that are Bautista, Cena or The Rock, I’d be a very happy boy.
Outside of that, my dream acting thing would definitely be getting to be involved in a superhero franchise. I grew up going to the movie theater and those were the movies that would get me to leave my house.”
