AEW’s MJF Sends 8-Word Message To John Cena After WWE Retirement
Former AEW World Champion MJF made his return to television during the latest episode of Dynamite Holiday Bash. He hadn’t been seen on TV since losing to Mark Briscoe at All Out 2025.
During his shocking return to the promotion, he cashed in his World Championship contract and added himself to the AEW World Title match at World’s End, making it a four-way clash between himself, Hagman Page, Swerve Strickland, and the champion, Samoa Joe.
During his absence, he wasn’t active on his Twitter [X] account as well, but now that he’s returned, he sent an 8-word message to WWE legend John Cena, following his recent retirement.
MJF thanks John Cena in his post
The 29-year-old grew up watching stars like John Cena and CM Punk, the latter of which he has often cited as his idol. In his message for the Never Seen 17, he replied to an old interview, where he revealed that before Punk, Cena was his idol.
I’m late to the party.
Thank you Cena. https://t.co/6pmJCHjeHO

During their time together in AEW, MJF and CM Punk managed to have one of the promotion’s best rivalries, and while the Salt of the Earth couldn’t wrestle Cena in his career, he got to share the stage with him during the red carpet for his film, The Iron Claw.
