AEW’s Jon Moxley Returning To Match For First Time In 20 Years
One AEW star is set to join Jon Moxley for a major tag team match which will be their first bout in the company since December 2023.
At Revolution, Swerve Strickland clashed with Ricochet in a match where the winner would become the next number one contender for the AEW World Championship at Dynasty. Strickland picked up the win giving him the chance to reclaim the AEW World Title.
By the time Revolution was over, Swerve Strickland had firmly set his sights on Jon Moxley after he retained his AEW World Title against Adam Copeland and Christian Cage. Strickland nailed Moxley with a vicious Swerve Stomp from a balcony as he sent a message to the champion.
Jon Moxley Finally Teaming With Marina Shafir
On the March 26 edition of Dynamite, Swerve Strickland called out Jon Moxley and the two men exchanged strong words face-to-face. Moxley thought he had the upper hand as his protector Marina Shafir appeared with a crowbar only for Willow Nightingale to show up with a lead pipe. The Death Riders backed off before Shafir made a break for Nightingale. Claudio Castagnoli pulled Shafir away while Prince Nana did the same with Nightingale.
It was then confirmed that Jon Moxley will team up with Marina Shafir to face Swerve Strickland and Willow Nightingale in a tornado tag team match on the April 2 edition of Dynamite. This will be Shafir’s first match in an AEW ring since she lost to Ruby Soho in December 2023. It will also be only the third time in Jon Moxley’s career that he’s teamed up with a woman after two matches in 2005 where he partnered with Hellena Heavenly for the Heartland Wrestling Association.
