AEW’s Chris Jericho Taps Out In Mexico
Chris Jericho tasted defeat on his return to Mexico.
On September 13th, CMLL held its special 91st-anniversary show at the iconic Arena Mexico in Mexico City. The card was topped by the return of “Lionheart” Chris Jericho as he wrestled his first match for the promotion in almost 30 years.
On the opposite side of the ring was Mistico who was determined to make sure Jericho’s return wouldn’t be a happy one.
Jericho took the first fall by submitting his rival with the Walls of Jericho, but Mistico restored parity after a huge Frog Splash. With the match hanging in the balance, Big Bill looked to swing things in Jericho’s favour but Mistico swiftly took him out, countered a Judas Effect, and submitted the AEW man with La Mística.
After the match, Bill flatted Mistico with a Big Boot, but just as he and Jericho looked to continue the attack, Orange Cassidy made the save. Cassidy had been attacked by Jericho earlier in the show.
It proved to be a rough night for AEW after Willow Nightingale lost the CMLL Women’s World Title to Zeuxis and Orange Cassidy Rocky Romero & Satoshi Kojima lost to Atlantis Jr., Ultimo Guerrero & Volador Jr.
Chris Jericho Set For Orange Cassidy Grudge Match
On the September 11th episode of Dynamite, the tension between Chris Jericho and Orange Cassidy boiled over in specular fashion. After trying to get Cassidy to repay him the $7000 he felt he was owed from their feud in 2020, Jericho finally got his wish.
The only problem was that it arrived in the form of a truck full of change dumped over his car.
It’s been announced that Jericho and Cassidy will meet on Dynamite on September 18th.
