AEW World Title Eliminator Tournament Finals No Longer At Full Gear
A change has been made to the AEW Full Gear pay-per-view because Tony Khan has announced that the finals will instead take place on the November 23rd episode of Dynamite.
The AEW World Title Eliminator Tournament started several weeks ago with eight men competing in a tournament. The winner will get an AEW World Title match at the Winter is Coming episode of Dynamite on December 14th.
In the quarterfinals, Ethan Page defeated Eddie Kingston, Bandido beat Rush and Brian Cage got the win over Dante Martin.
A fourth match was supposed to take place in the quarterfinals with Lance Archer facing Ricky Starks. However, that match didn’t happen because Archer attacked Starks in a backstage segment where Archer sent Starks into a garage door. The Starks match against Archer is now scheduled to take place this Friday, November 18th on a live edition of AEW Rampage.
Meanwhile, Ethan Page defeated Bandido on the October 16th episode of Dynamite to move on to the finals where he will face either Brian Cage or the winner of the Archer-Starks match.
In an update on the tournament, AEW President/Owner Tony Khan took part in a Full Gear conference call talking about the show and mentioned that the AEW World Title Eliminator Tournament finals will be taken off Full Gear and moved to Dynamite instead.
Here’s what Khan said with thanks to Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful for tweeting it:
Tony Khan claims that Ricky Starks actually wasn’t cleared last week, and they had to move the match with Archer to this week.
The winner of Archer vs. Starks will wrestle on Zero Hour against Brian Cage. The finals against Ethan Page are now next Wednesday on Dynamite.
The Zero Hour show is a one-hour pre-show before Full Gear takes place this Saturday, November 19th.
All of this means that the AEW World Title Eliminator Tournament Finals will take place next Wednesday, November 23rd on Dynamite in Chicago.
