AEW Veteran Thinks Toni Storm Has Already Taken Her Place In History

Toni Storm

“Timeless” Toni Storm continues to impress.

After an impressive 2024, Toni Storm has taken things to a whole new level in 2025, establishing herself as one of the biggest female wrestling stars on the planet.

Since the turn of the year, Storm has become AEW’s first-ever four-time Women’s World Champion while competing in memorable storylines opposite Mercedes Mone and Mariah May. Those impressive in-ring outings, combined with her unique presentation and character work, have endeared her to fans around the world.

That work has also impressed her colleagues in AEW.

Toni Storm Is One Of The Greats

On the latest episode of his What Happened When podcast, Tony Schiavone looked back at SummerSlam 1992 while discussing all things AEW with co-host Conrad Thompson.

During the conversation, the pair named The Undertaker as the greatest wrestling gimmick in history. Thompson then put it to Schiavone that Toni Storm has the ability to move into that same conversation, given her impressive current run.

Schiavone agreed while heaping praise on the popular star.

“I was thinking about that too, but I didn’t really want to compare Toni Storm to Undertaker, but that is a tremendous gimmick. Probably, as far as women’s wrestling goes, the best [gimmick of all time]. Again, just taking an idea that Tony Khan had and putting the right people in the right places.

You couldn’t really do this with anybody; she just really leaned into it, as the old cliche goes, and is just wonderful to work with.”

Toni Storm made the most recent defence of her AEW Women’s World Championship at Forbidden Door, where she saw off Athena. The challenger had become the number one contender after winning the women’s Casino Gauntlet Match at All In.

During a recent interview, Mercedes Mone said her All In match with Toni Storm was the greatest women’s match in AEW history. She added that the match was further proof that women’s wrestling is more than capable of taking centre stage, and that it could have easily taken the main event spot.

Mone said that her next goal is to ensure a women’s match takes the headline spot at an AEW pay-per-view.
