AEW Veteran To Undergo Shoulder Surgery
A popular AEW figure will be taking some time off.
In August, AEW announcer Taz missed a Dynamite taping in Scotland and Forbidden Door as he continued to recover from knee replacement surgery. The star underwent the surgery the previous November, despite having initially hoped to delay it for several years.
For the shows, the star was replaced by Bryan Danielson. The American Dragon has since joined the announce team on a full-time basis after admitting that his in-ring career is likely over. Taz later said that he was excited to work alongside Danielson, dismissing the idea that the pair were in competition.
He added that their different perspectives will give a different dynamic to the analysis during Dynamite.
Once the company was back in the United States, Taz returned to the commentary desk, but it seems that another break is on the horizon.
Taz To Take A Break From AEW
In a new announcement on social media, Taz revealed that he’ll be gone for “some time” as he undergoes total shoulder replacement surgery.
I will be having total shoulder replacement surgery in a short time. Therefore, I will be off AEW Dynamite for some time. See you soon.
Back in May 2024, the former ECW World Champion explained that he’d been told by doctors that he needed to have both knees and both shoulders replaced in the coming years. However, he was quick to point out that his issues stem from poor training practices when he was younger, rather than any injuries suffered in the ring.
Taz was recently honoured by the 2300 Arena — better known as the ECW Arena — when he was inducted into the venue’s Hardcore Hall of Fame.
