AEW Veteran Cleared To Return After Lengthy Absence
A veteran AEW wrestler can wrestle again after missing over a year of action.
Mark Davis has spent the majority of the last seven years as part of the Aussie Open with Kyle Fletcher. Davis was the team veteran since he is 34 years old while Fletcher is just 25 years old with a bright future.
At the AEW WrestleDream PPV in October 2023, Davis suffered a serious wrist injury in the match and he hasn’t wrestled since. Davis also had a knee injury in May 2023 that saw him miss several months as well.
It has been reported by Fightful Select that Davis is cleared to return to the ring after more than a year on the sideline. In that WrestleDream match, Aussie Open lost to FTR.
During his AEW career so far, Davis & Fletcher won the ROH Tag Team Titles.
Kyle Fletcher Confronted By Mark Davis On AEW Dynamite
The AEW return of Mark Davis took place on the October 30th edition of Dynamite. Fletcher was on the stage for a promo along with his manager Don Callis. Fletcher called out Will Ospreay, who Fletcher attacked a few weeks earlier and put in the hospital, at least in the storyline.
As a trio, Ospreay, Davis & Fletcher were known as The United Empire in New Japan and other places.
While Fletcher was talking, the United Empire logo appeared and Mark Davis appeared on the stage. Fletcher wanted a hug, but Davis pushed him back. Davis said that Will was laid up at home because of what Kyle did to him.
Davis scolded Fletcher by saying they considered Will a brother and he didn’t know who he was looking at now. Fletcher claimed that Ospreay didn’t care about them.
Kyle tried to get Davis to join him in the Don Callis Family, but Davis wasn’t interested and said Fletcher destroyed their United Empire. Davis walked away while Fletcher said that the day would come when Davis will have to make a hard decision and Kyle said he has proven he has no problem cutting the past loose.
Stay tuned to AEW programming to see if Davis will reunite with Fletcher as a team or if their friendship is over.
