AEW Veteran Admits The Clock Is Ticking
AEW star MVP has admitted that he is in the twilight of his career after winning his first bout for the company.
The 51 year-old star arrived in AEW with a surprise appearance at Grand Slam on 25th September and has since wasted little time in once again teaming up with Shelton Benjamin and Bobby Lashley to form ‘The Hurt Syndicate’.
All three stars had previously enjoyed success in WWE as ‘The Hurt Business’, a faction that also included former WWE Cruiserweight Champion, Cedric Alexander.
MVP has made only sporadic appearances in recent years, finally making his AEW in-ring debut during AEW Dynamite: Maximum Carnage on 15th January.
The trio were triumphant over the team of Mark Briscoe and Private Party, a victory that marked MVP’s first TV win since defeating Cedric Alexander on the 13th June 2022 edition of Raw.
The former WWE United States Champion took to Instagram after the bout to celebrate the victory before acknowledging that there may not be many more bouts ahead of him:
“Vintage MVP!!!! 2025 and I’m still BALLIN!!! The clock is ticking on my in ring career. I don’t have much time left. But I promise to give you everything I’ve got until I finally reach the final match. 🫡”
AEW Veteran Retires From The Ring
One man who will not compete in the squared circle for AEW again is Christopher Daniels.
‘The Fallen Angel’ is widely believed to have brought the curtain down on an in-ring career that has lasted over three decades with a recent defeat to ‘Hangman’ Adam Page.
Page defeated Daniels in a brutal Texas Death Match on the 18th January edition of AEW Collision, returning to the ring after the match to deliver Daniels’ own finishing move, ‘Angel Wings’, to the 54 year-old in a moment that looks likely to symbolise the end of the former ROH World Champion’s career.
