AEW Tweaking Anarchy In The Arena Match Plans
The Anarchy in the Arena Match at AEW Double or Nothing featuring Jon Moxley, Swerve Strickland, and others could have more twists coming.
Jon Moxley defended the AEW World Title against Samoa Joe on this week’s episode of Dynamite entitled Beach Break.
It was a match that took place inside a Steel Cage, which is supposed to keep others from interfering, yet there was still interference. That’s because Gabe Kidd from NJPW showed up, handed Moxley his briefcase with the AEW World Title in it, and Moxley used the briefcase to hit Joe in the head to retain the title.
After the match, The Young Bucks went down to the ring to join Jon Moxley, who was bleeding heavily. Nicholas Jackson wanted to shake Moxley’s hand, but Kenny Omega’s music hit. Omega hit a running knee on Wheeler Yuta and sent Claudio Castagnoli into the barricade. Kazuchika Okada showed up to punch Omega in the abdomen.
Matthew Jackson pressed a button, lowering the Steel Cage around the ring. Samoa Joe and Kenny Omega were isolated by the heels in the ring. Mike Bailey fought with Kazuchika Okada to the back. The Bucks hit the EVP Trigger on Joe. Moxley hit a Paradigm Shift on Omega.
Swerve Strickland went down to ringside and Swerve went to the top of the cage. Swerve jumped off the top of the cage and knocked down about five people at the same as a way to save the other babyfaces in the ring. Matt Jackson pushed the button on the device and the cage lifted up. At that point, Moxley’s Death Riders and The Young Bucks retreated.
There was also a promo from Swerve Strickland about how he is the most dangerous man in AEW. Swerve said that with everybody involved here, he thinks they should create some anarchy. Swerve made the challenge: “Double or Nothing…Phoenix, Arizona…Anarchy in the Arena.” That was the end of the show.
Who Will Be In AEW’s Anarchy In The Arena Match?
The Anarchy in the Arena match is happening at AEW Double or Nothing, but some fans are confused about who will be in it. Anarchy in the Arena is usually a Falls Count Anywhere style of match that’s 5-on-5.
Fightful Select has reported that Kazuchika Okada and Mike Bailey likely won’t be involved in Anarchy in the Arena. That’s because Okada is set to defend the Continental Championship against Bailey at Double or Nothing.
According to Fightful, the heel side will likely be Jon Moxley, The Young Bucks (Matt & Nick Jackson), Gabe Kidd and Marina Shafir. Meanwhile, the babyface team will likely be Swerve Strickland, Kenny Omega, Samoa Joe, Powerhouse Hobbs and Willow Nightingale. It was also noted that Katsuyori Shibata could be added to the babyface team, while Claudio Castagnoli could be part of the heel team, so it would be a 6 vs. 6 match.
Hook and Wheeler Yuta could also be involved in the match, but that doesn’t mean they will officially be part of it.
AEW Double or Nothing takes place on Sunday, May 25th in Phoenix.
