AEW President Tony Khan Shares Major Update On Will Ospreay’s Return
Will Ospreay last competed at AEW-NJPW Forbidden Door in August 2025.
He was a part of the babyfaces team in the Lights Out Steel Cage match, which they won after Hiroshi Tanahashi hit a Frog Splash on Matt Jackson for the pinfall.
After the match, Ospreay shared a personal moment with his hometown crowd of London when he was sidelined by the Death Riders, who beat him viciously.
Jon Moxley targeted his neck by wrapping a steel chair around it and stomping on it as his teammates watched helplessly from outside the cage.
While the attack was brutal, it was essential to write off the 32-year-old due to a legitimate injury that he had been suffering from.
He subsequently underwent surgery in September. He confirmed the news on Instagram, revealing that he was on the road to recovery.
Tony Khan Claims Will Ospreay Will Return To AEW In 2026
AEW President Tony Khan recently appeared for an interview on Unlikely with Adrian Hernandez, where he was asked about Will Ospreay’s health and return status.
Khan could not provide a clear answer on Ospreay’s return timeline, but ascertained that it would be sometime in 2026.
Well, I was just talking to him on my way over here to do this interview, actually. He’s doing better, and I’m very grateful.
He’s been out since Forbidden Door, which was a huge success for us in London. And Will Ospreay is recovering from serious neck injuries.
And I’m very grateful that Will Ospreay is in AEW. And I’m also very grateful that he’s recovering and he will be back in 2026. I can’t say exactly when, but I can tell you that in 2026, he will be back. And we’re so excited to have Ospreay here. [H/T: Ringside News]
