AEW To FOX Not Yet A Done Deal

Tony Khan AEW

With no announcement made, rumours continue to swirl about AEW’s media rights and although one deal is believed to be done, there’s another that’s not quite there.

For months speculation has run rampant over AEW’s future on TBS and TNT as its US rights deal came up for renewal. Tony Khan has all but confirmed a new deal has been completed with Warner Brothers Discovery but another deal with another broadcaster also seems to be in play.

AEW raised eyebrows when a new trademark for “Shockwave” was filed amid rumours that the company was in talks over a deal with FOX. WWE SmackDown’s five-year deal with FOX has now come to an end leaving the broadcaster with no pro wrestling to show.

AEW Shockwave To FOX?

Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer gave the latest update on the situation noting that a deal with FOX has not been signed and that he expects if it is, then AEW programming will be on FS1 rather than SmackDown’s old home:

The FOX deal is not done, I know a lot of people have been talking about the idea on the FOX Network but I would strongly suspect it will not be on the FOX Network. It will probably be another station, whether it’s FS1, whether it’s a streaming component.

As far as the Shockwave thing, they did trademark the name. So they have to be pretty darn close to a deal to the lengths of trademarking the name.

A new deal between All Elite Wrestling and WBD is believed to be complete and that could see a huge change coming to AEW’s pay-per-views.
