AEW Teases Huge Rematch With Tag Team Tournament Bracket
There could be a massive grudge match on the cards in AEW with title implications as the company reveals the brackets for the Tag Team Title Tournament.
Sting finished his career with one last win at Revolution as he and Darby Allin put the AEW Tag Team Championship on the line against The Young Bucks. With that win, the title was vacated with The Icon now officially retired from the ring as Tony Khan announced there would be a tournament to crown new champions.
The brackets for that tournament have now been revealed with the possibility of an old rivalry being rekindled in the final.
Could AEW See FTR vs. Young Bucks One More Time?
Ten teams will fight for the right to be crowned AEW Tag Team Champions with EVPs The Young Bucks facing Private Party in the first round. That match is a call back to the original AEW Tag Team Title Tournament to crown the inaugural champions that saw huge underdogs Private Party pick up a shock win over The Bucks.
On that same side of the bracket, the ROH Tag Team Champions Mike Bennett and Matt Taven will face the winners of a wildcard bout between Best Friends’ Orange Cassidy & Trent Beretta and The Don Callis Family’s Powerhouse Hobbs & Kyle Fletcher.
On the other side of the brackets, the wild card match sees The Infantry take on The House of Black. The winners of that match will face FTR in the quarter-finals. The other quarter-final pits Ricky Starks & Big Bill against Top Flight.
Should both teams get to the final then it could see The Young Bucks face FTR for the AEW Tag Team Championship, reigniting their heated rivalry that sees FTR leading The Bucks 2-1 in head-to-head matches. The final – no matter who gets there – will take place at Dynasty on April 21st.
