Nigel McGuinness has claimed that Bryan Danielson could be stripped of the AEW World Championship if he isn’t cleared for Grand Slam.

At Grand Slam, years of animosity will come to a head as Nigel McGuinness is set to face Bryan Danielson for the first time in 15 years. That is, if The American Dragon is cleared to get in the ring following his brutal betrayal by Jon Moxley and the Blackpool Combat Club at All Out.

As McGuinness waits for Danielson to confirm whether or not he will be at Arthur Ashe Stadium in New York City, he has begun the “Fragile Countdown,” using social media to goad his old rival into the match.

In the most recent installment, McGuinness claimed that he has “heard a rumor” that AEW will strip Danielson of his title if he doesn’t show up.

“We’ve seven days to go to Grand Slam and ‘The Fragile Countdown’ counting down. Still, the ‘American Coward’ yet to give any indication of if he’ll face me at Arthur Ashe Stadium.”

“I did hear a rumor, Bryan, that if you don’t show up, you might be stripped of the title. So if that’s the case, let me ask you, is not losing to me and me proving that I should have had all your success really more important than the AEW World Title? The ball’s in your court, Bryan.”

Bryan Danielson Reveals Odd Similarity Between WWE & AEW Title Wins

Bryan Danielson has reflected on the similarities between his AEW World Title win at All Out and his WWE Championship victory at WrestleMania 30. The star says he is in a similar place with his health now as he was 10 years ago.

The American Dragon explained that his current neck problems are very similar to those in the months ahead of WrestleMania, when doctors told him he would need neck surgery within a few months.
