AEW Still Pitching Ideas For Possibly Departing Star

AEW

AEW star and current Ring of Honor Six-Man Tag Team Champion Brian Cage could be calling time on his career in the promotions as he is yet to sign a new deal with Tony Khan’s promotions.

Brian Cage joined AEW back at Double Or Nothing in 2020 when he was the surprise entrant in the Casino Ladder match and won the whole contest. He is best known for his time in Team Taz and for his reign as FTW Champion which he eventually lost to Ricky Starks.

Currently, Cage is one-third of the ROH Six-Man Tag Team Champions alongside Bishop Kaun and Toa Liona as part of Prince Nana’s Embassy.

Fightful originally reported that despite initial belief that Brian Cage’s deal with AEW was coming to an imminent end, the company had hoped to add time to his contract due to time missed because of injury. With time added that would have taken his contract to June 2023 but the star reportedly pushed back on that and was interested in his options as a free agent. One of those options is believed to be WWE, which is said to retain an interest in the star.

However, a new report on Fightful Select noted that despite the rumours that Cage’s time working for Tony Khan was coming to an end, there were said to be creative pitches made for him and The Embassy within AEW.

It is believed that Brian Cage and AEW came to an agreement for him to work through the ROH Supercard of Honor pay-per-view which will take place on March 31st. The report concludes by saying AEW has offered Cage an extension which is comparable to his current deal and some “heavy hitters” in the company have shown their support for him in recent weeks.
