AEW Stars Not Happy With Ultra Long PPVs

Tony Khan AEW

AEW Double Or Nothing was a hugely well-received show but for many in the company, it was just too long.

Anarchy In The Arena dominated Double Or Nothing as Swerve Strickland led his team to victory over the Death Riders and The Young Bucks. Mercedes Mone booked a shot at the AEW Women’s World Championship as she won the Women’s Owen Hart Foundation Tournament.

Adam Page won the Men’s Owen Hart Foundation Tournament to ensure he’ll challenge Jon Moxley for the AEW World Championship at All In Texas.

The show was very well received by fans but there was one common complaint that has plagued many AEW pay-per-views, it was just too long. For those wanting to catch the pre-show action as well, the show ran to over six hours long, finishing after midnight on the East Coast of the US. And it’s not just fans who want shorter shows.

AEW Stars Want Shorter PPVs

Speaking on Wrestling Observer Live, Bryan Alvarez noted that he’d spoke to many in AEW who almost universally wish Tony Khan would run shorter shows:

Yesterday, I spent the whole day talking to all sorts of people in AEW. I will say with one exception, because if I say ‘everybody’ then, you know, but it was actually everybody – every single person was like, ‘These shows are too long. We all know it. They should end before midnight on the east coast.’

Every single person in the company that I talked to, except Tony because I didn’t talk to him – because of course he doesn’t think they’re too long – every single person there is like, ‘They’re too long. He just does it. We can’t stop it. There’s nothing that can be done’.

The shows are too long. Everybody knows it except Tony and a small handful of the sickos that would watch the show if it were nine hours long.
