AEW Stars Confirmed For Wrestle Dynasty

Tony Khan AEW WrestleDream

Two AEW stars are returning to Japan.

Back in July, AEW and NJPW announced the creation of Wrestle Dynasty. The cross-promotional show which will also feature talent from CMLL, ROH, and Stardom is set to take place on January 5th, just 24 hours after Wrestle Kingdom at the Tokyo Dome.

AEW and NJPW have been working together regularly since the creation of Forbidden Door in 2022. At the most recent edition of the event in June, Swerve Strickland defeated Will Ospreay in the main event to retain the AEW World Championship.

Meanwhile, Tetsuya Naito overcame Jon Moxley to regain the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship.

AEW Stars To Make Japanese Return

It’s now been announced by NJPW that the Young Bucks will be competing at Wrestle Dynasty in January. The announcement was made during NJPW’s King Of Pro-Wrestling 2024 event.

This will mark the first time that the Young Bucks have appeared in Japan since leaving NJPW in 2019. Their last match took place at Wrestle Kingdom 13 where they lost the IWGP Tag Team Championship in a three-way match against Guerrillas of Destiny and Los Ingobernables de Japón.

Interestingly, Kenny Omega has hinted that he’d like to be back in action at Wrestle Dynasty, adding he’s out for revenge on the Young Bucks. Omega hasn’t wrestled since December 2023 after being diagnosed with diverticulitis. The star has since undergone surgery, but remains determined to resume his career.
