AEW Stars React To Cody Rhodes’ Heartbreaking WrestleMania Loss
On Sunday night in a packed SoFi Stadium, the stage was set for Cody Rhodes to finally become Undisputed WWE Universal Champion and fulfill his destiny, but destiny had other plans.
WrestleMania 39 should have been the night wrestling’s uncrowned prince received his crown in the form of the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship but The Tribal Chief he had to dethrone had other ideas.
In a match laced with interference from The Usos, Kevin Owens, Sami Zayn, and Solo Sikoa, it was The Bloodline’s enforcer’s that proved pivotal as Sikoa nailed Rhodes with a Samoan Spike which allowed Roman Reigns to his a Spear and pick up his third WrestleMania main event victory in a row.
With the air going out of SoFi Stadium immediately after the referee’s hand hit three, a few of Cody Rhodes’ former colleagues in AEW seemed less than thrilled with the result as well. These included his brother Dustin Rhodes, current TNT Champion Powerhouse Hobbs, Sammy Guevara, and Brodie Lee’s wife Amanda Huber who works in AEW’s community outreach program. Huber’s son Brodie Jr. (Negative One) was ringside for Rhodes’ bout and received his special weight belt.
