AEW Stars “Chasing A Star Rating” As Full Gear Match Slammed
One WWE Hall of Famer was left in a rage after one AEW Full Gear match featuring two top stars who were accused of being marks for themselves.
At Full Gear, the rivalry between Kyle Fletcher and Will Ospreay hit new heights as they went to war in a hard-hitting spectacle. At one point Fletcher reached new lows as he tombstones his former United Empire partner on top of the ring steps but the match went on.
In the end, Kyle Fletcher picked up the biggest win of his AEW career as he pinned Will Ospreay in the middle of the ring. But by then, they’d already lost WWE Hall of Famer Bully Ray.
Bully Ray Disgusted Will Ospreay’s AEW Full Gear Match
Speaking on Busted Open Radio, Bully Ray – who recently competed on WWE TV as NXT took place in the ECW Arena – complained that the spot involving the ring steps should have meant a whole lot more:
That match continued after a jumping tombstone piledriver from the apron to the steel steps. Somebody’s gotta put their foot down…It’s so bad. A jumping tombstone piledriver from the apron to the top of the steel steps?! You should be taken out in an ambulance!
Ray compared it to Randy Orton being taken out of action by a piledriver by Kevin Owens recently in WWE. His rant also went on to claim that Ospreay and Fletcher were merely chasing a star rating:
I don’t care about match of the year, I don’t care about match of the decade. If two talents…just throw it all away and not care, because all you’re working for is a pop, all you’re doing is chasing the hug, all you’re doing is chasing a star rating, nuh uh. No way…It’s a spot because you’re marks for yourself.
Full Gear ended in absolute chaos after Jon Moxley retained the AEW World Championship against Orange Cassidy before Hangman Adam Page, Christian Cage, and Jay White all got involved before Darby Allin rammed a car into the Death Rider’s vehicle before Moxley’s crew made their escape.
