An AEW star was told in no uncertain terms that they needed to improve.

Ever since joining the Blackpool Combat Club in April 2022, Wheeler Yuta’s career has gone from strength to strength.

Once a star on the independent scene, Yuta has become a staple of AEW television and has been central to several storylines around the BCC.

In recent weeks, Yuta continued his association with the latest iteration of the group following the Jon Moxley revolution. This saw the star turn his back on Bryan Danielson at WrestleDream and suffocate his one-time mentor with a plastic bag to ensure he left the arena on a stretcher.

A point consistently made about the BCC is that they’re a group outside of the ring, as well as on television. This sees the faction train together and work as a unit to improve, and sometimes this comes with a touch of brutal honesty.

During an appearance on The Mark Hoke Show, Yuta recalled Claudio Castagnoli telling him he needed to improve his physique.

“I started to let my physique go a little bit, and then Claudio is like ‘Hey man, you have to stand next to me every week on television. You might want to work on that a little bit.

He was very kind when he said it, but there’s definitely been some moments where some guys have been like ‘Let me give you this piece of advice and then it’s up to you to take it or not.’ You always have those people that are looking out for you, and once you know that guys have your best interest in mind, then you can really gravitate to them.

That’s something I’ve been very fortunate to have with the guys in the BCC is they’re always very honest with me. If they see flaws in my game, they will tell me; if they think I did something good, they’ll tell me as well.”

Yuta’s most recent match came on the October 19th episode of Collision where he teamed with PAC and Castagnoli to defeat Action Andretti and Top Flight to retain the World Trios Titles.
