An AEW star’s absence is set to continue.

In a new post on Instagram, The Blade revealed he’s undergone back fusion surgery. The star hasn’t wrestled since February 4th when he competed for Alpha-1 Wrestling. The Blade is best known for his work in AEW where he teams with The Butcher.

Underneath a short video, the star thanked fans for their support.

Back fusion was a success 👍 Thank you to everyone for your continued support ❤️ Means a lot to this Grizzled Vet Utility Brother

During a virtual signing in June, The Blade said he hoped to be back in a couple of months, but that timeline has now been and gone.

Meanwhile, his partner The Bunny hasn’t wrestled since leaving AEW in November 2023. During the same signing, she confirmed she was taking a hiatus and working on her acting career.

Powerhouse Hobbs Closing In On AEW Return

Although The Blade will be out of action for the foreseeable future, it seems Powerhouse Hobbs could be back in the ring sooner rather than later. Hobbs was backstage at the September 4th episode of Dynamite, and Tony Khan said during the pre-All Out media call that he hopes the star will be back soon.

We look forward to getting Will Hobbs back. I can’t say the exact date, but he’s somebody in our plans that we want to get going again soon. It’s been nice to see him backstage a couple of times lately.

This wasn’t the first time we’ve seen him, which is a good thing that he keeps coming in for check ups and is making good progress,”

A further report from Fightful Select noted that Hobbs attended All Out, and he’s “back on the road.”

Meanwhile, AEW recently welcomed back Jamie Hayter after the former Women’s Champion spent more than 14 months out of action with a serious back injury.
