AEW Star Toni Storm Set For First-Time Ever Clash At Forbidden Door

Toni Storm

“Timeless” Toni Storm will make the fifth defence of the AEW Women’s World Championship.

At All In, Toni Storm overcame Mercedes Mone in arguably the toughest test of her AEW career. Following a wild 25-minute clash, Storm walked out with the Women’s World Title and handed Mone her first AEW defeat in the process.

But Storm wasn’t given much time to celebrate, and her next challenger was already waiting in line.

Earlier in the show, Athena won the Women’s Casino Match to earn a shot at Storm at a time of her choosing. Since then, the pair have gone back and forth, with Athena repeatedly teasing a match but ultimately keeping the champion guessing.

“Timeless” Toni Storm Finally Gets Her Date With Athena

As the tension continues to ramp up, Athena pinned Storm during a tag team match on the July 30 edition of Dynamite. This earned her and Billie Starkz a win over the champion and recent signing Alex Windsor.

24 hours later, on a special live episode of Collision, it was officially confirmed that Storm will defend her AEW Women’s Championship against Athena at Forbidden Door on August 24. Athena’s ROH Women’s World Title won’t be on the line.

Storm and Athena have never wrestled one-on-one.

It was also announced that Swerve Strickland will challenge Kazuchika Okada for the Unified Championship at the same event. Strickland has repeatedly gone after Okada since All In and finally made the challenge on Collision. Okada later accepted, and the match was made official.

On Dynamite, Strickland had come to the aid of The Outrunners after they were attacked by The Young Bucks and Okada.
