An AEW star is facing an extended period on the sidelines.

Back in March, it was reported that an AEW World Tag Team Title Match had been pulled from Dynasty after one of the challengers suffered an injury. The participant in question was Brian Cage, who had suffered a torn quad, an injury that required surgery to fix. But his injury issues ran a lot deeper than that.

He subsequently revealed that he’d also undergone surgery for long-standing knee problems.

In October, he ducked questions on his in-ring comeback, saying that he was playing things close to the vest. However, all plans for an in-ring return are now on hold.

AEW’s Brian Cage Handed Injury Setback

In a post on social media, Cage has now shared a much less optimistic update on his injury struggles. In a short statement, Cage revealed that he’s set to undergo surgery once again, this time on his right knee.

He added that he’d been fighting an “uphill battle” regarding the issue.

I busted my ass and have done everything imaginable to come back as quick and as healthy as possible.

That being said I have some news. News that nobody would want to hear. There is an issue on the operation I had on my right knee. I was fighting an uphill battle that no amount of therapy, modalities, stem cells, peptides, etc we’re going to fix. I have to go back under the knife for them to try to fix or correct the situation.

Being upset and depressed upon hearing this news is beyond an understatement. It’s maybe question a lot and bring a bond a bunch of doubt. I hate having this what was me mindset, and hopefully when they get in there it’s best case scenario. And even if it’s worst case, once we get this fixed and back on track I’ll pick up the pieces I’ll rebuild and become a better version of “the machine” once again.

In more positive injury news, Will Ospreay has confirmed that he’s “doing great” six weeks after undergoing major neck surgery. The British star is hoping to step up his rehabilitation in January, but further reports have reiterated that he remains a “long way” from getting back in the ring.
