AEW Star Says He Is “Sick And Tired Of Groups”

There is one top AEW star who has absolutely no interest in joining a group even though he has been part of a faction in the past.

If you watch All Elite Wrestling with any regularity then you know there are many groups or factions in the company. There were probably more of them in past years, but there are many of them that still exist to this day.

By having groups, it’s a way for pro wrestling companies to get other people on the show by putting them outside the ring. For example, if Jon Moxley has a match on AEW Dynamite then his Blackpool Combat Club buddies Bryan Danielson, Claudio Castagnoli & Wheeler Yuta could be part of his entrance or stand at ringside. It beats sitting in catering all night, after all.

Ricky Starks used to be in a group called Team Taz led by the legendary Taz along with Powerhouse Hobbs and Brian Cage. It was good for Starks early in his AEW run, but he has evolved a lot since then.

No plans to join a group for AEW’s Ricky Starks

While Ricky Starks has had the seven-footer Big Bill by his side in recent months, Starks has made it clear he has no interest in joining a group. Starks was asked by the Battleground with Tim podcast if he had any interest in joining the Blackpool Combat Club.

“I don’t know. I’m sick of groups, I really am. I’m tired of groups, I’m tired of factions. Everybody has a faction, everybody has a group. So annoying. I would say ‘thanks but no thanks, I don’t want to join the BCC.'”

“I don’t want to have to walk around wearing those jackets. I could (give the black jacket a makeover), but there is only so much you can do with a black jacket. It’s just hard. Everyone is bleeding, there is a lot of blood. The exchange of bodily fluids, it’s just a lot. It’s a lot. I’m too handsome to be hardcore, but I’m too hardcore to be handsome sometimes.”

While Ricky Starks has no interest in joining the BCC, he did pick up a big win at WrestleDream last Sunday when he beat the BCC’s Wheeler Yuta in singles action.
