AEW Star Returns After 16 Month Layoff
AEW Dynamite was full of surprises in Cleveland with an Undisputed AEW World Champion being crowned but it also saw the return of a star who has spent 16 months on the sidelines.
It was a massive night in Cleveland for AEW with CM Punk and Jon Moxley going head to head to crown an Undisputed AEW World Champion in what was the biggest title match in the company’s short history. In an incredible turn of events, it was Jon Moxley that won the night, putting CM Punk away in less than three minutes to the shock of the Ohio crowd.
In the night’s main event, Death Triangle faced off with Will Ospreay and Aussie Open in the Trios Title Tournament and there was one especially interested onlooker at ringside and you’d have to have had your head in a box not to notice them.
The boxed figure had been seen at recent shows keeping an eye on All-Atlantic Champion PAC, and when the Geordie grappler saw them at ringside again, he decided to get a closer look. Fans expected to see Kip Sabian but instead, a man with a taped mouth was seen, allowing Sabian to attack PAC from behind.
Kip Sabian has made no secret about being the mysterious man in a box on social media but the fact it was him had rarely been referenced on AEW television.
Sabian last competed in AEW back in March 2021 when he teamed with Miro in the Arcade Anarchy match which saw Chuck Taylor and Orange Cassidy pick up the win. The following month, Miro turned his back on Sabian, viciously assaulting him backstage. Kip Sabian underwent shoulder surgery in May 2021 leading to his lengthy lay-off from the ring.
