AEW Star Loved Punching CM Punk In The Face
AEW star Eddie Kingston has shared fond memories of his battles with CM Punk.
The former ROH World Champion enjoyed a short rivalry with ‘The Voice Of The Voiceless’ in late 2021, culminating in a bout between the duo at AEW Full Gear.
It was Punk who eventually emerged victorious in a hard-fought brawl in Minneapolis, Minnesota after downing his opponent with his trademark ‘Go To Sleep’ finishing move to score the win via pinfall.
Speaking during a recent appearance on ‘Wrestling With The Narrative‘, Kingston was asked to name something positive about his former foe and offered a humorous response:
“I loved punching him in the face, I’ll tell you that much!”
Kingston would go on to praise ‘The Second City Saint’, citing him as a rare performer who can sell tickets based upon his star power alone:
“I’m gonna take the personal stuff out of it and just look at it from the outside and say that Punk is one of the few names still left in wrestling where if you put [his] name on a billboard by itself, you’re gonna get people to come and see what’s going on.
Personally, that’s a different story, but business-wise man, he’s really one of the last few names in wrestling [that can do that].
I haven’t watched WWE in a very long time, not because I’m Mr. whatever, it’s not interesting to me. That’s me, though. If it’s interesting to you, god bless, awesome you’re watching wrestling, that’s all I care about personally.
Punk, I give him that man, you put his name on anything, people will either buy it or come see what’s going on. You put him in a supermarket or Walgreens or something, saying CM Punk’s gonna be here, people are going to come to see what he’s doing. So, he’s definitely a name.”
CM Punk Pays Tribute To WWE Hero
CM Punk has hailed the work ethic of fellow WWE Superstar, Bayley.
The former WWE Women’s Champion has balanced appearing on both of the company’s major television programmes in recent weeks with promotional activities, including an appearance in the NBA Celebrity All Star game on 14th February.
Punk took to social media to praise his friend, labelling the San Diego native as his ‘hero’.
