AEW Star Publicly Calls Out WWE Over John Cena

John Cena on WWE Raw

WWE has received strong criticism from a current AEW star.

Thunder Rosa came down hard on the company’s handling of John Cena’s retirement run.

While speaking on a recent Busted Open podcast episode, she stated that Cena’s loss to Brock Lesnar at Wrestlepalooza made no sense, guessing that backstage politics might have played a role in it.

Certain things I didn’t agree with—like him losing to Brock Lesnar. I was not okay with that. It was pointless. I mean, come on—like… but whatever. You know, politics.

She also dared the promotion to live up to its claim about pushing young talent by having Dominik Mysterio get over Cena at Survivor Series: WarGames on Saturday.

If you are saying certain things and you’re retiring, you better be doing it. Otherwise, just don’t say them just to look good. Dominik needs to win… John Cena needs to put his money where his mouth is. [H/T: Ringside News]

John Cena won the WWE Intercontinental Championship for the first time on November 10 by defeating Dominik Mysterio, thus becoming a Grand Slam Champion.

Drew McIntyre Breaks Character To Acknowledge John Cena’s WWE Contributions

John Cena’s retirement run has had its fair share of problems, but it does not have to overshadow his two-decade-long contributions to WWE.

Recently, Drew McIntyre, who is a top heel in the company, broke character to praise the 17-time world champion.

While speaking on ESPN’s Get Up, The Scottish Warrior discussed how Cena stepped up when the promotion’s aging superstars either retired or took a backseat.

He’s meant everything to our industry. When The Rock and Stone Cold Steve Austin left WWE, the top superstars like Triple H and Shawn Michaels were at the end of their careers; the company and the world needed someone to step into that top spot. John stepped up for multiple generations.

Meanwhile, McIntyre will be a part of the men’s WarGames match, teaming up with Bron Breakker, Bronson Reed, Logan Paul, and Brock Lesnar.
