Top AEW Star Praises “Crazy Genius” Vince McMahon

Vince McMahon WWE

A former WWE star can’t believe they got the chance to work with Vince McMahon.

On September 25th, the long-awaited Netflix documentary on Vince McMahon finally premiered. While the six-part docuseries didn’t provide too much new information for long-time fans, the scandals and revelations discussed certainly got people talking.

The series split fans and industry insiders, with some praising the content, while others felt McMahon was given too much of an easy ride.

The project was first discussed back in 2020 but underwent several changes before finally hitting screens. This included WWE Films no longer being involved in its production. Meanwhile, the ending was changed dramatically after Janel Grant filed a lawsuit against McMahon, WWE, and John Laurinaitis alleging sexual abuse in January 2024.

Mercedes Mone Heaps Praise On Vince McMahon

Despite previously claiming that she left WWE because of personal issues with Vince McMahon, Mercedes Mone has now given a glowing appraisal of her former boss.

Writing in her Mone Mag, the AEW star described McMahon as a “crazy genius” who made wrestling what it is today while discussing the documentary.

“On to the big white elephant in the room, as in the big Vince McMahon Netflix documentary, as I said last week, I couldn’t wait to watch. Watching all six episodes, honestly, I was a little disappointed and didn’t feel like there was too much new for me.

I’ll say this, as I watched, I couldn’t believe that I got to work for Vince, what a crazy genius he is, and how he really elevated wrestling to a whole stratosphere. He created a universe fans have enjoyed for decades and still do. He made wrestling larger than life. He did it all, and he tried it all. And he failed so many times, too.

Where the business is at today is all because of him and his ideas. And that’s what I really liked it,”

Mone left WWE in May 2022 alongside Naomi, reportedly following a row over creative. The pair were the Women’s Tag Team Champions at the time of the much-publicised walk-out.
