The future of a popular AEW star appears uncertain.

Dustin Rhodes signed with AEW back in 2019, but it seems his time with the company could be coming to an end. The former Goldust wrestled his brother Cody in an acclaimed match at the promotion’s inaugural pay-per-view Double or Nothing, but in more recent times he’s become a regular on Ring of Honor.

According to a new report from Fightful Select, Rhodes’ contract will expire before the end of the month, and no extension has been agreed.

Ibou, of Wrestle Purists, later noted that Rhodes’ contract is up in a “handful of days.”

Back in July, Dustin Rhodes hit back at suggestions he’s planning to retire when his contract expires, commenting that he’s “Not done.”

Since making those comments Rhodes has gone on to become a double champion in Ring of Honor. The veteran is currently one-half of the World Tag Team Champions with Sammy Guevara and one-third of the World Six Man Tag Team Champions with The Von Erichs.

According to the report, Rhodes works with the women’s division behind the scenes.

Daniel Garcia Increasingly Likely To Stay With AEW

At All In, Daniel Garcia returned to AEW for the first time since July when he was left beaten and broken by MJF. He then went on to lose the former World Champion at All Out, although his post-match assault has put MJF on the shelf.

There has been a great deal of speculation around Garcia’s future, and it’s widely believed his contract expires in October. To add further intrigue, it’s something of an open secret that WWE is interested in securing his services.

However, there was recently an interesting hint that Daniel Garcia will stay with AEW after he was featured in advertising for events in late October and into November.

Meanwhile, an earlier report from Fightful Select has confirmed Ricky Starks remains under contract with AEW, but he hasn’t been backstage of late. The former World Tag Team Champion hasn’t wrestled in AEW since March 30th.

According to one report, Ricky Starks is expected to leave for WWE when his contract expires.
