AEW Star Looking To Comedy After Serious Back Surgery
One AEW star is focusing on a career outside the ring as they continue their recovery from serious surgery that will keep them out of action for quite some time.
In September 2024, AEW star The Blade revealed he’d undergone back fusion surgery. The star hasn’t wrestled since February 4th when he competed for Alpha-1 Wrestling. The Blade is best known for his work in AEW where he’s long been part of a stable with The Butcher and his wife The Bunny – also known as Allie.
Speaking at a virtual signing with RDP Promotions, Allie gave an update on The Blade confirming that his surgery was a success and trying his hand at a new career while he recovers:
He’s hanging in. He just started his PT. His back surgery went really well. I’m really proud of him. He’s doing a ton of stand-up comedy right now. He’s really just focused on getting healthy.
Another AEW Star Makes Big Return
On Dynamite in Manchester, Takeshita and Kyle Fletcher were set for tag team action against Ricochet and a mystery partner. That sent the rumour mill into overdrive with suggestions that Mark Davis, Will Ospreay, or Kenny Omega could be set to team with Ricochet.
However, Don Callis and his family were in for a big surprise.
Ricochet revealed that his partner was someone whose contract with The Don Callis Family ended on October 4th and they were very upset that they had been ignored while out of action due to injury. Powerhouse Hobbs then made his long-awaited return to action as he and Ricochet picked up the win.
Powerhouse Hobbs had been on the shelf since April 2024 when he suffered an injury in a match with Jon Moxley on Dynamite that forced him to undergo surgery on his knee.
