AEW Star Says They Have Less Than A Year On Their Contract

An AEW star has revealed that their current contract with the company has less than a year to run as they look to get back in the ring after surgery.

Dustin Rhodes has been a fixture in AEW since the company started in early 2019. The Natural had the company’s first five-star rated match when he faced his brother Cody at the Double Or Nothing pay-per-view that year.

Three years later and AEW is a very different place with Cody Rhodes back in WWE and Dustin Rhodes currently working his way back to full fitness.

Speaking on Sports Guys Talk Wrestling, Dustin Rhodes explained how close he is to returning to the ring after having last competed in August in a loss to Claudio Castagnoli:

“Knee is great. I’m feeling good. I’m ready to go back. I’ll be back very very soon, probably two weeks. Right now, I feel good. I am getting older and that kind of weighs on my mind a little bit.”

Rhodes says his knee has been repeatedly cleaned out over the years and says he’s going to do his best to get back in the ring with less than a year remaining on his AEW deal:

“A lot of cleanings, I’ve never had an ACL surgery. This is 14 surgeries altogether. I was just feeling old because my knee is taking a little longer to recuperate. Now I’ve got it, it’s good to go. I’m getting older, they’re getting younger and faster. I know my time is short. I still have a year under contract, a little less than a year, and I’m gonna try to do the best I can and entertain as much as I can because I still love it and am pretty passionate about it, but it is a young man’s game, as everyone finds out.”
