AEW Star Injured & Pulled From Major Match

Blackpool Combat Club AEW

AEW and CMLL are working together as part of a new partnership but one of Tony Khan’s stars won’t be making the trip to Mexico for a major match.

In recent weeks several CMLL stars have appeared on AEW television with many of them involved in an altercation with the Blackpool Combat Club. That led to a major match being made for CMLL Homenaje a Dos Leyendas at Arena Mexico that would see Bryan Danielson, Claudio Castagnoli, Jon Moxley & Wheeler Yuta face Volador Jr., Mistico, Blue Panther & Ultimo Guerrero.

However, that match now won’t happen as advertised.

AEW’s BCC Get Replacement For CMLL Show

CMLL took to social media to reveal that the BCC’s Wheeler Yuta is not medically cleared to compete and so has been instead replaced by Matt Sydal. The promotion also shared a letter that came from AEW to confirm the situation. That letter read:

Dear CMLL;

This letter is to inform you that WHEELER YUTA is not medically cleared for travel or any in ring activities at this time and will not be able to participate in your upcoming event. I have obtained authorization from Wheeler Yuta to share this information to CMLL and all involved. Thank you for your understanding in this matter. If you have any questions that I may be able to answer, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Sincerely,

ALL ELITE WRESTLING, LLC

Wheeler Yuta is the current Ring of Honor Pure Champion but has not wrestled since the January 10th edition of Rampage that saw him lose to Eddie Kingston. It is not known what specifically is behind Yuta’s continued absence.

AEW will also be represented on CMLL’s show with both Rocky Romero and Willow Nightingale competing in Arena Mexico.

Bryan Danielson is set for a dream match at AEW Dynasty in April but he will need to survive his surroundings in Mexico before he makes it to St. Louis.
