AEW Star In Walking Boot After Freak Injury
After rumours of an AEW star getting injured during their entrance, there has now been confirmation that they might be out of action for some time.
In one of the biggest matches of his career, Buddy Matthews challenged Kazuchika Okada for the Continental Championship at Grand Slam Australia. Matthews, who grew up in Melbourne, was cheered to the rafters throughout but he was ultimately unable to topple the champion.
It soon emerged that Matthews sustained an ankle injury before his match took place. The star appeared to suffer the injury during his entrance, but he wrestled the match as planned, although he was seen limping heavily once the action was over.

Taking to social media, Buddy Matthews has shared a photo of his injured foot in a walking boot indicating the seriousness of his injury as he joked about being “like 1/2 iron man.”

During his time back in his home country, Buddy Matthews enjoyed his honeymoon with Rhea Ripley after the pair got married in 2024. Rhea Ripley noted a “roly-poly ankle” wasn’t going to stop them from enjoying their time together.
It remains unknown how long the injury will keep Matthews out of action. It’s been a time of transition in the star’s career as Malakai Black left AEW leaving Matthews, Brody King, and Julia Hart to continue as a trio now known as The Hounds of Hell.
