Another AEW star looks to be on the verge of leaving the company.

In recent weeks it’s been reported that The Lucha Bros and Daniel Garcia could be on their way out of AEW, while Ricky Starks has consistently been linked with a move to WWE.

There’s now another name to add to that list after Maria Kanellis revealed her contract is up in just a matter of weeks. The star signed with the company alongside her husband Mike Bennett in October 2022.

In an update on Instagram, Kanellis discussed her recent health struggles before revealing her contract expires on October 31st. Furthermore, she hasn’t heard anything regarding an extension.

Hello. It’s been a little bit since I’ve checked in. We’re getting close to my surgery and we’re within 20 days of it at this point. This week, I have an ultrasound, I have genetic testing and I also am meeting with my surgeon to make a plan and hopefully start discussing what time of day we’ll be doing the surgery and if we’re going through the front or through the back.

So, I’m trying to not focus too much on that and also my contract with AEW is coming up October 31st. I’ve reached out to them to find out whether or not they are going to be signing me but, I haven’t really heard anything yet. So, of course that is weighing on me as well.

But, because it’s that time of year where it’s spooky season, I’m trying to focus on that. So I have this stick here (she laughed), and today, I’m gonna work on some outdoor Halloween decorations because the rest of it, I can’t control right now. I can’t control AEW, I can’t control the surgery.

But what I can do is make some wonderful memories for my kids. So today, that is going to be my focus is making my kids happy. Peace friends.

Maria Kanellis To Discuss Treatment In AEW

As speculation began to swirl about her future and time in AEW, Kanellis appeared to hint that there was more to the situation than meets the eye. In a follow-up post on X, the star said she would be accepting interviews from October 31st where she’ll discuss her treatment in AEW.

For those asking I will be accepting interviews about my time and treatment in @aew after October 31st.

I will be able to start taking bookings 6 weeks after my surgery so starting the second week in December.

The former WWE star has long been an advocate for women’s wrestling never shying away from difficult conversations or trying to push the industry forward. Back in February, Maria Kanellis called for justice after Janel Grant filed a lawsuit against Vince McMahon, WWE, and John Laurinaitis alleging sex trafficking and sexual assault.

Kanellis noted that many people had “experienced or heard rumors of different levels of evil for years.”
