AEW Star Hits Out At Recent Booking

An AEW star just wants to fight.

Eddie Kingston won the ROH World Title back at Dynamite Grand Slam in September 2023 in a stunningly hard-hitting match with Claudio Castagnoli. Since then, Kingston has appeared across AEW and ROH programming, but some fans have been critical about how the Mad King has been used.

Despite being the promotion’s champion, there have been stretches where Kingston has been absent from HonorClub. However, the man himself says he wants to wrestle at every taping.

When asked by Bill Pritchard of WrestleZone, whether he wants to feature more for ROH, Kingston was adamant that he did. But as the star explained, he’s not the one booking the show.

“Yeah, yeah. I’ve proven I would. I’ve been there, and I’ve done two matches, one after another on the days of recording. I would definitely love to do that. But again, I don’t book the shows, guys. I’m a worker. I’m not in the office. That’s not my job. My job is to take orders and do my job. So whatever the bosses or the boss want, I will do because that’s my job.

People like to separate pro wrestling from other things and not make it like it’s a job. My man, this is still a job. Just like when I had ironwork, I wouldn’t tell my foreman, ‘No, I’m not gonna work on that opening.’ I wouldn’t tell my boss in wrestling, ‘No, I’m not gonna do that.’

So personally, I want to be every Ring of Honor show. I want to be on every Dynamite. I want to be on every Rampage, I want to be on every Collision, but I can’t control that because it’s not my show. That’s what I mean when I say, ‘Not my show.’

Basically, I don’t book it. But when it’s time for me go out there, I will do my job. That’s it. It doesn’t matter if I like it or not, dawg. I got bills to pay, and I like getting in the ring. I love pro wrestling, I love fighting. So when I get my chance, I do it. Would I do it every day? Yes, but again, not my show, not my call,”

Eddie Kingston Doesn’t Care About CM Punk’s Comments On AEW

In a different interview, Eddie Kingston was asked about CM Punk’s recent criticism of AEW. Despite Punk’s scathing assessment of AEW, Kingston said he wasn’t concerned about what had been said. Instead, Kingston said he was more worried about the stars who had just been released by the company.

Eddie Kingston will defend the ROH World Title against Mark Briscoe at Supercard of Honor on April 5th.
