AEW Star Held Interest In WWE Switch

Tony Khan AEW Triple H WWE

A rising AEW star was interested in WWE.

On the July 3rd episode of AEW Dynamite, Daniel Garcia was left broken and bloodied by MJF. As a result of the beating Garcia left the arena on a stretcher and he hasn’t been seen since.

A recent report suggested the reasons behind Daniel Garcia’s absence were two-fold, as it was being used to set up a clash with MJF, but was also down to uncertainty surrounding his contract. At the time of the beatdown from MJF, Garcia was reportedly yet to sign an extension, leaving the way clear for a potential jump to WWE.

Many expect Garcia to stay with AEW, but there were also claims he hadn’t made a decision on his future.

Daniel Garcia To WWE Remains Possible

Writing in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer suggested that although Garcia could move to WWE, and was previously interested, it appears unlikely.

The general belief remains that Daniel Garcia will sign a new deal and feud with MJF upon his return. The angle itself was shot with that expected, but his contract was running out and he did have interest in going to WWE (although he’d likely have had to start in NXT).

That’s still possible but AEW was always expected to be the spot he’d be, probably because a guy like him could probably get a better money deal in AEW. But there was interest in WWE as well.

The report went on to point out that if AEW didn’t expect Garcia back, he wouldn’t be mentioned on television.
