AEW Star Happy To See Cody Rhodes Succeed In WWE

Cody Rhodes

AEW and WWE might be rivals, but one veteran is happy to see Cody Rhodes impress.

Since returning to the company at WrestleMania 38, Cody Rhodes has been presented as one of the biggest stars in WWE. The American Nightmare has been an ever-present in the main event scene and his popularity has continued to soar.

After disappointment at WrestleMania 39, and almost being replaced by The Rock at WrestleMania 40, fans are fully behind Rhodes “finishing his story” against Roman Reigns in Philadelphia.

Rhodes will also have former colleague Matt Hardy pulling for him, as according to Hardy, tribalism between WWE and AEW is “bullshit.”

Speaking on The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy, the tag team legend said he was happy to see Rhodes climb to the top of WWE.

“That’s kind of how I’ve always been with people, I don’t do this triabilistic company bullsh*t whatever AEW, TNA, ROH, WWE whatever it is. If someone is your friend and they’re doing good somewhere be happy for them, who cares where they’re at, be happy for your friends,”

Hardy added that if and when Rhodes defeats Roman Reigns at WrestleMania to become Undisputed WWE Universal Champion he doesn’t need to embark on a long reign with the gold. Instead, he needs to deliver a string of good matches before being screwed out of the title and getting back to the chase.

“I don’t think he needs a long run, I think he just needs to have a good run, a successful run, great matches, and then as a babyface he gets screwed out of the title and then he’s okay,” Hardy said. “He’s still going to be over you’ll give him something to fight for.”

Cody Rhodes Confirmed For Elimination Chamber

Before he gets to WrestleMania, Cody Rhodes will come face to face with Seth Rollins at Elimination Chamber in Perth, Australia.

The pair are set to meet on a special edition of the Grayson Waller Effect after they appeared to bury the hatchet on Raw. Rollins threw his weight behind Rhodes in his battle with Roman Reigns, pledging to be his shield.
