AEW Star Could Be Gone For 8 Months After Recent Return
One AEW star has no luck at all as a new report sheds light on how long they’ll be out after suffering a new injury.
At AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door, it was a case of two in and two out for Tony Khan’s injured list. Jamie Hayter and Wardlow made their surprise returns on the show, with the former TNT Champion attacking Prince Nana before aligning with The Don Callis Family.
That came after Kazuchika Okada took out Swerve Strickland with repeated chair shots to his knee. Strickland is suffering from a knee injury and will likely miss several months from the ring. There could be an even longer layoff for Will Ospreay after he was stretchered out of the arena following a sickening attack at the hands of Jon Moxley and Claudio Castagnoli. Ospreay is battling serious neck and spine issues that many expect will take surgery to put right.
Fightful Select first reported that during his comeback at Forbidden Door, Wardlow suffered a torn pectoral muscle. Mr. Mayhem had already been out for 17 months before his return, and this injury now means he could be set for another lengthy layoff.
6-8 Months Out For Wardlow After AEW Return?
Speaking about the situation on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer
Torn pec, that’s like 6-8 months more probably.
Meltzer’s co-host Bryan Alvarez noted that he’d heard there was uncertainty over the severity of the injury and whether it was a full or partial tear. Meltzer continued:
I heard the same thing that they don’t know the severity of it. If he’s gonna need surgery, it’s gonna be a long time. It’s one injury after another; it’s been a real, real tough road for him.
