AEW Star Could Be Forced To Retire After Admitting Neck Is “Wrecked”
A former AEW World Champion may never wrestle again.
One of AEW’s biggest stories in 2024 centred around Bryan Danielson and his impending retirement. As his body began to betray him with alarming regularity, Danielson vowed to end his full-time career when he lost the World Championship.
That brutal end came at WrestleDream at the hands of Jon Moxley and the Death Riders. Since being stretched out in his hometown, Danielson hasn’t appeared on AEW television.
Despite stepping away, Danielson has repeatedly claimed he’d like to wrestle again after taking time to heal up. During the final months of his World Championship run, the star struggled with a series of neck issues, but was hoping to avoid surgery.
However, in a new interview with Jamal Niaz, Danielson has admitted that his comeback might never happen, commenting that his neck is “wrecked.”
“Yeah, but my neck is wrecked. So, it’s not no chance, but but it’s risk versus reward at this point, right? So I want to be able to live comfortably with my wife and kids. One of the things our society has a real problem with is realizing when enough is enough, and I’m very satisfied with my career, and I think enough is enough.”
Bryan Danielson Playing Key AEW Role
Although he’s not been performing in the ring and might never do so again, Bryan Danielson is still having a big impact on AEW.
During a recent interview, Tony Khan revealed that he speaks with Danielson almost every day and works closely with the star. Khan described the former World Champion as a “big part of his office,” but admitted he would like to see him wrestle again.
Khan added that Danielson joining AEW in 2022 was a “blessing” and that he’s proven to be a great leader for the company.
