Speculation around the future of a popular AEW star has gone into overdrive.

Wardlow has been out of action since challenging Samoa Joe for the AEW World Championship on the March 13, 2024, edition of Dynamite.

Although there’s been no official explanation given for his absence, Matt Tavern said in September that the former TNT Champion was dealing with a knee injury. However, he declined to give any further details, and the true extent of the issue remains unknown.

The star initially signed with AEW in 2019, debuting as MJF’s bodyguard before following the star into The Inner Circle and then The Pinnacle. His career high point came after he finally split from MJF at Revolution in 2022 when he helped CM Punk defeat his one-time boss.

At Double or Nothing that year, Wardlow demolished MJF with ten consecutive Powerbombs.

As his absence continues, Wardlow has filed to trademark his ring name. This has only served to increase speculation that he could be preparing to leave AEW and potentially head to WWE. There had already been significant online chatter given that AEW has stopped using talents it believes are looking to leave the promotion, something many feel is being done with Wardlow.
