AEW Star: “I’m The Most Famous Wrestler To Have Never Been Signed To WWE”
AEW star MJF makes a bold statement.
Friedman disappeared from All Elite TV at the end of 2023. His contract was also set to expire at the same time.
Amidst his absence from the Jacksonville-based promotion, rumors began circulating that he might jump ship to WWE after his contract expired.
MJF also teased a “bidding war of 2024” storyline during his absence, where he led the fans to believe that WWE and AEW are both in a bidding war to acquire his services.
He returned in June 2024 at Double or Nothing and subsequently confirmed he had signed a new lucrative, long-term extension with AEW, putting an end to the WWE rumors.
AEW Star MJF Is Proud Of Never Having Been Signed To WWE
Every wrestling superstar has desired to be a part of WWE at some point in their career. A WWE stint adds a big boost to a wrestler’s professional profile.
However, MJF feels differently. He takes pride in the fact that he’s never been signed to WWE.
In a new interview with Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp, the former AEW World Champion said:
I’m 29, I’m on the precipice of greatness. I want to be a multiple time World champion.
I like to think of the fact that at this moment, I think there’s an argument to be made that I’m the most famous professional wrestler in the history of the business to have never been signed to WWE.
I take a great amount of pride in that because that’s DIY, that takes effort.
It also takes, as much as I hate to admit it, it takes these disgusting troglodyte marks fully marching along with me on my beaten path, which they have so far.”
MJF has been enjoying his time in All Elite Wrestling, and he’s not going anywhere, at least for a couple more years. His current AEW contract reportedly runs through 2027.
He was recently added to the AEW World Championship match at Worlds End on December 27, 2025, against Samoa Joe, Swerve Strickland, and “Hangman” Adam Page.
