AEW Star Explains Lack Of Title Defences
AEW star Claudio Castagnoli has claimed a lack of competition is the reason for the recent lack of World Trios Championship defences.
Castagnoli joined forces with Death Riders team mates Wheeler Yuta and Pac to capture the gold in a four-way London Ladder Match against The Patriarchy, House Of Black and Bang Bang Gang at AEW All In on 25th August 2024.
The titles have only been defended on a handful of occasions since that high profile victory, however, with fans making their feelings known in recent weeks.
Former ROH World Champion Castagnoli recently hit back during an AEW digital exclusive, claiming that a lack of quality opponents was to blame for the low number of title defences:
“You wanna know why these titles haven’t been defended in over two, three months, huh?
That’s because the pool is so shallow when it gets to the level that we are at. It’s absolutely pathetic!”
