AEW Star Expected To Turn Down WWE

Tony Khan AEW Triple H WWE

One AEW doesn’t look to be leaving.

At All In, Daniel Garcia returned to AEW for the first time since July when he was left beaten and broken by MJF. On the show, Garcia confronted the former World Champion and knocked him down before Will Ospreay followed up to win the International Title.

There has been an incredible amount of speculation around Garcia’s future as his contract is believed to expire in October. Furthermore, he still hasn’t signed a new deal.

While some took Garcia’s return as a sign he’s staying put, Tony Khan gave little away at the post-show press conference.

Reporting in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer stated that despite interest from WWE, Garcia looks to be staying with AEW.

But one has to think bringing him back is the indication he’s staying. Those in WWE seemed to believe that. When the angle was done, several close to the situation noted that they expected him to stay but he had considered WWE, which was trying to recruit him.

WWE Sources Claim AEW Contracts Are Bad For Business

Elsewhere in the newsletter, Meltzer cited sources in WWE who felt the new contract signed by Swerve Strickland was “bad for the sport.” The belief is that the deal recently signed by Strickland and the offer made to Garcia is well above market value.

Strickland’s new deal will reportedly keep him with the company until September 2029. Meltzer added that the contract is one of the biggest in AEW, and around Kazuchika Okada and Mercedes-level, but some way short of the likes of WWE stars such as Roman Reigns, Cody Rhodes, and Randy Orton.
