AEW Star Promises To Embarrass Mercedes Mone On Dynamite

Mercedes Mone has been warned.

On the April 12 edition of Collision, Athena saw off Harley Cameron and Jamie Hayter beat Billie Starkz in the Owen Hart Cup.

While Hayter will now advance to face Kris Statlander, it also means that the highly-anticipated match between Athena and Mercedes Mone is now a reality. Fans have been calling for the pair to meet in the ring almost since Mone debuted with AEW in March 2024.

There had been speculation the champion vs. champion showdown would come at All In Texas, but the dream match has arrived much quicker.

Athena Sends Warning To Mercedes Mone

Thanks to her victory, the growing tension between Athena and Mone looks set to explode. The pair are now set to meet on the April 16 edition of Dynamite which just so happens to be held in Mone’s hometown of Boston, with the winner moving on to the finals at Double or Nothing.

In a backstage AEW digital exclusive, Athena promised to embarrass Mone in front of her friends and family.

“This is my year. This is my moment. First round of the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament, done. Now on to the semi-final to face y’all’s CEO, Mercedes Mone. As much as you’ve been running AEW, I’ve been running Ring of Honor. Now it’s time for both of us to clash in your hometown.
But here’s the spoiler alert Mercedes, I’m going to beat you. I’m going to embarrass you in front of your friends and your family. After that, I’m going to go on to win the entire Owen Hart Foundation tournament.
After that, I am going to be at All In in my hometown as I beat whoever is the AEW Women’s World Champion. You made a mistake, Mercedes, and that was picking a fight with me. Because hell hath no fury like Athena’s scorn. See you in Boston, bitch.”

In the men’s tournament, Konosuke Takeshita also advanced on Collision and he’ll now face Will Ospreay on April 16. On the other side of the bracket, Kyle Fletcher has also booked his semi-final spot, and he’ll face “Hangman” Adam Page or the as-yet-unknown “wild card.”
