AEW Star Would Be Disappointed By World Title Failure
For one AEW star, it’s a matter of World Championship gold or nothing.
Since signing with AEW in 2021, Adam Cole has endured an injury-hit run with the company which has repeatedly halted his momentum.
The star was sidelined in 2022 with serious concussion-related issues, only returning in January 2023. However, come September, Cole was injured again, this time badly breaking his ankle during Dynamite Grand Slam. The problem was much worse than originally believed, and Cole was kept out of action for over a year.
But with his latest issues behind him, Cole is again chasing a match with MJF and a run in the main event picture.
During an appearance on The Danny Ocean Show, Cole was asked to name the one thing he wanted to accomplish in AEW.
“Absolutely winning the AEW World Championship, without question. If my career in AEW doesn’t involve me becoming the AEW World Champion at some point, I will feel disappointed. It’s been a goal of mine in every promotion I’ve ever worked for, whether it’s Ring of Honor, Pro Wrestling Guerrilla, NXT, you name it.
The goal obviously is to be the guy and to have the company put everything behind you, and you carry the flag. So again it was my mission when I first joined AEW, and it will continue to be my mission. Right now, my main focus is MJF, of course, but the AEW World Title is always in the back of my head, and that is my number one goal,”
Adam Cole Closing On AEW Showdown With MJF
The AEW Dynamite Dozen Battle Royal returned on December 4th, as Adam Cole and Kyle O’Reilly squabbled over Cole’s chase of MJF.
On Dynamite it was Cole and O’Reilly who were the last two men standing moving them closer to a match with the former World Champion. The pair will now meet at Dynamite Winter Is Coming with the winner facing MJF at Worlds End with the latter’s Dynamite Diamond Ring on the line.
