AEW Star Details How Unlikely Trio Came To Be

Samoa Joe wanted to help a couple of fellow AEW stars.

After losing the AEW World Championship to Swerve Strickland at Dynasty in April, Samoa Joe was looking for a fresh challenge. This saw him form an unlikely team with Hook and Katsuyori Shibata.

The trio stayed together through June and into July battling against Chris Jericho and the Learning Tree.

During Terrificon 2024 (via Fandom Spotlite) Joe revealed that the group was his idea as he wanted Hook and Shibata to have the chance to show a different side of their personalities.

It was kind of just talking with HOOK and knowing (Katsuyori) Shibata and seeing these two talents. I wanted to do something different with them. I wanted for the world to see a little bit more both of their personalities and so, I sat there and I sat with Tony (Khan). We kind of figured out, ‘Yeah, would this be kind of a good grouping of us three?…’ So that was really how it all came together.

Hook Wins Big At AEW All In

Samoa Joe hasn’t wrestled since being defeated by Jericho on July 10th in a Stampede Street Fight. However, his young protege got a measure of revenge at All In.

At the event inside Wembley Stadium, Hook defeated Chris Jericho to claim the FTW Title. The match came to a conclusion with Hook locking in Red Rum on Jericho while Taz did the same on Bryan Keith who was looking to interfere once again.
