AEW Star Highly Critical Of John Cena’s Heel Turn

John Cena hugs Cody Rhodes

One AEW star thinks John Cena’s heel turn is already lacking momentum.

At the latest Saturday Night’s Main Event special, John Cena picked up another tainted win, this time against R-Truth.

Later in the night, Cena also made his presence known as Jey Uso put the World Heavyweight Championship on the line against Logan Paul. During the match, Cena tried to help Paul to victory and even attacked the champion, but he was interrupted by Cody Rhodes.

The appearance was Rhodes’ first since losing to Cena at WrestleMania 41.

With Rhodes taking care of Cena, Uso was able to finish off Paul to retain the World Championship. After the match, Rhodes challenged Cena and Paul to a match at Money In The Bank, and the bout was later confirmed by Triple H.

John Cena Leaves Jeff Jarrett Scratching His Head

On the latest episode of his My World podcast, Jeff Jarrett gave his thoughts on Cena’s heel turn and his recent creative struggles. The AEW veteran urged WWE to “pour some gas on the fire,” commenting that Cena is already struggling for momentum, just two months after turning to the dark side.

“The thing with Cena, I’m just curious to see where all that goes. Switching him heel and all of the emotion that came from that, whenever you switch a tip tip top guy, the old [idea] comes back into my brain that I was taught — You better have his first, not first opponent, but like first three or four if you’re going to keep the momentum going.

That’s where I scratch my head, where are they going with him? I know Cody is back in the mix and they kind of did some shuckin’ and jivin’, so are they going to switch him back. Curiosity is what they want out of it, but are they gonna switch him back babyface this quick? I don’t know.

I don’t wanna say they’re in no man’s land, but man they are awfully close to it. They’ve got to create a little bit more tailwind out of it. That was March and we’re just at the end of May, better pour some gas on that fire.”

John Cena and Cody Rhodes are both set to appear on the May 30 edition of SmackDown. This will mark the first time the pair have been scheduled for the same show since their clash at WrestleMania 41.
